A moderated panel discussion featuring executive chefs and seafood buyers from Seattle’s mid-sized restaurant community. Panelists will answer a series of pre-submitted questions designed to elicit from them their philosophies on the purchase of seafood, sustainability and portioning. Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions of their own as well. This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from your customer what he needs in a competitive wild seafood product.

Featuring new internet resources that allow fishermen who sell their catch directly to get more market exposure. Current sources of grants and loans for fishermen will also be reported.

Marine Refrigeration Systems
Hands-on workshop by Highland Refrigeration will help fishermen determine the best system for their particular application. Slurry, ice or chilled water. A look at the ‘pros’ and ‘cons’ of each system.
Washington Sea Grant Vessel Safety Workshop
Course work combines lectures with hands-on experience, using safety and survival equipment now required for commercial fishing vessels. Participants will learn about emergency procedures and be trained to develop appropriate emergency drills for their own vessels.
